Simon J. Hotz

Background

Attorney Simon J. Hotz founded Simon Hotz Law, LLC in 2020 after more than a decade of legal practice in some of the largest and most respected family law firms in the Chicagoland area. Since 2009, Mr. Hotz has focused his practice exclusively on the litigation and negotiation of complex divorce matters, representing clients including public figures, lawyers, business owners, executives, professionals, and their spouses.  He has successfully litigated cases to conclusion in Cook and Will Counties involving small businesses, executive compensation plans, and high-conflict custody matters.  He draws on his professional experiences to represent clients in family law matters including divorce (pre- and post-judgment disputes), custody (parental responsibilities), visitation (parenting time), spousal support (maintenance), child support, domestic violence (orders of protection), property division, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements. Mr. Hotz’s expertise allows him to guide clients through all phases of negotiation and, if necessary, litigation, as well as mediating various disputes. Mr. Hotz takes pride in his reputation amongst attorneys, judges and clients for being a strong legal advocate and an empathetic confidant for clients.

Mr. Hotz understands that representation of clients must be both tactical and compassionate. Mr. Hotz works to balance client goals with legal possibilities in order to approach each matter from a place of maximum advocacy and practicality. Mr. Hotz applies his legal expertise to the individual facts of each situation to develop appropriate paths toward resolution. In collaboration with his clients, Mr. Hotz identifies goals and develops strategies tailored toward successful resolution of their cases, whether through litigation or a negotiated settlement.  Although Mr. Hotz firmly believes that most family law matters can best be worked out through negotiated settlements, he also understands that certain situations cannot be resolved without the help of a court.
